What is Bio-Ethanol?
Bio-ethanol is an environmentally friendly, liquid fuel that is derived from fermented plant sugars. Free of the smoke, soot and ash typically associated with gas or wood burning fires, Bioethanol emits a bright orange, Eco-friendly flame. Not only does it produce a mess-free fire, but also a vent-free one.
How is Bio-Ethanol Made?
Bio-ethanol - or simply 'ethanol' is a renewable energy source made by fermenting the sugar and starch components of plant by-products - mainly sugarcane and crops like grain, using yeast. It is also made from corn, potatoes, milk, rice, beetroot and recently grapes, banana and dates depending on the countries agricultural strength.
Why is it Clean Burning?
1green Fireplaces are fueled by Bio-ethanol, a renewable liquid fuel produced from agricultural by-products which burns clean - no smoke, no ash, no soot. The combustion of bio-ethanol produces Heat Steam and Carbon Dioxide
Why is it Sustainable?
The combustion of bio-ethanol results in a clean emission: Heat, Steam and Carbon Dioxide. Carbon dioxide is absorbed by plants. It is then processed via photosynthesis to help the plant grow. This infinite cycle of creation and combustion of energy makes bio-ethanol a carbon neutral fuel source.

Is 1green ethanol the same as gel fuel? Can I use gel fuel in my fire?
1green Bio-Ethanol is a liquid fuel and is NOT the same as gel fuels. Gel fuels have added thickening agents that can reduce the heat output and fuel efficiency. It can also leave sticky residue in the burner, which will eventually affect safe operation. Gel fuels are used only on burners specifically designed to use them. 1green Fireplaces are designed and manufactured to burn only 1green Premium Green Fuel. Other fuels, especially gels, are not recommended. In fact, the use of brands other than 1green voids the burner’s warranty
How long will Bio-ethanol burn for?
It will depend on the Bio-Ethanol burner you’ll be using 1green fuel in and the ambient conditions. Factors such as wind can make fuel burn faster. As a general rule of thumb, a 1,5L Burner would last 6 Hours on Max and 10h on MIN setting. A 0.7L burner will last up to 2 hours, but we have a stainless steel control ring, that will make you burner last up to 6hours!
How much heat does it give?
The burners give between 2-3 kilowatts at maximum effect, which is equivalent to two infrared heaters. The heat comes immediately, is directed, and can thus serve as a complement to existing heating. The fireplace is able to warm up a room of normal size.
How much does it cost to run?
The cost of 1 liter of Bio-Ethanol varies depending on place and quantity of purchase. On average you look at R27.50 per liter so if you are running your fire on medium and on 2 liters, this is a cost equivalent to having a couple of cappuccinos each evening!
Is 1green bio-ethanol environmentally friendly?
1green is a clean fuel source on two fronts. First, it comes from fermented plant sugars, so it is derived from completely natural renewable sources. And when it is burned, the only byproduct is heat, steam and carbon dioxide - no messy pollutants like soot, smoke and ash.
How do I light, adjust, and extinguish the fireplace?
Our Instruction Manual that accompanies the product outlines everything you need to know to operate the Ethanol fireplace safely and efficiently. Lighting the fire is as simple as using an extended lighter – just follow the instructions and seconds later you can enjoy a healthy, warm flame. Regulation of the effect (flame size and heat) is done with the accompanying design tool which is also used for extinguishing the fireplace.
Is installation needed?
Most of our Fireplaces comes fully assembled.
Is the products certified?
All our products carry a 1 year limited warranty and have been crafted by an ISO9001 Quality Management Systems compliant manufacturer. In addition our 1.5L Dual Layer burners have also been TUV certified in Germany. The fireplaces are UL/CUL certified and type-approved to the strictest prevailing safety requirements, which guarantee secure and safe ownership.
STORAGE AND HANDLING of FUEL

Store container tightly sealed in a cool dry place away from direct sunlight.

Ensure adequate ventilation when handled.

Never open the bottle near an open flame

Fuel must be kept at least 2m from the fireplace

Any spilled fuel must be removed to prevent ignition outside the burner reservoir.
FIRST AID MEASURES
Skin: Rinse skin with soap and water. If irritation occurs, consult physician.
Eyes: Immediately flush affected area with running water for at least 20 min. If irritation occurs, consult physician
Ingestion: Do not induce vomiting. Call physician immediately.
Inhalation: If symptoms are experienced, remove source of contamination, or move victim to fresh air. Get medical attention.
